Mrs. Ramya Weerakoon is the Chairman / Managing Director of Ramya Holdings Pvt. Ltd and she hailed from a conventional background who was widowed at a very young age. She has been a single parent shouldering the responsibility of bringing up two daughters and worked against all odds to overcome difficulties thrown in her path in establishing operating and expanding successful enterprises.

She ventured in to business world by manufacturing batik wall hangings and garments for export market in 1976 and later diversified into exporting of handicrafts. In 1988 she entered to the apparel industry by establishing Ramya Apparels.

Ramya Weerakoon is recognized and awarded locally and internationally for her achievements as an entrepreneur. She is representing many organizations and chambers as the key personnel. All in all Mrs. Ramya weerakoon is a an exemplary personality and set an example how to be a real courageous Asian woman.

Ramya Apparels / Trendywear (Pvt.) Ltd

In 1987, Ramya Apparels (Pvt.) Ltd was incorporated. It commenced operations in 1988, with 54 employees. At present under the umbrella of Ramya holdings (Pvt.) Ltd, Trendywear (Pvt.) Ltd operates five garment factories where the workforce is over 5000. The company constantly engaged in fostering a prosperous and healthy environment in the rural areas, away from the metropolitan city of Colombo. All these projects are approved by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. Trendywear is specialized in manufacturing and exporting high quality ladies’ and Children’s wear to USA, UK and Switzerland.

Ramya Horticutlture (Pvt.) Ltd

Ramya Horticulture (Pvt.) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ramya Holdings, is into growing and exporting ornamental plants and tissue culture raised plants. Their main export markets are Europe, middle east, Korea and Far East countries.

The Plains – Boutique Bungalow in Nuwara Eliya

Ramya Holdings further diversified into leisure industry starting with a boutique bungalow and a chalet in Nuwara Eliya district with an eco friendly and green concept. This venture caters the high end clientele for those who are interested in eco tourism and Agro tourism.
